My name is Kyla Zwack and I am currently a fourth year undergraduate student at Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a specialization in communication design. My ambition is to use my interdisciplinary design skills and love for innovative design to tell real stories and instill change within broken systems.
My junior high education at Calgary Arts Academy exposed me to the world of fine art, from painting, to film, to dance. This is where I first fully came to appreciate the impact art has to influence and inspire others. Then, in high school I had the opportunity to design the school lanyard and work on other design related projects. I fell in love with communication design because it utilizes both creative thinking and critical problem solving through visual storytelling. After high school I worked as a freelance designer with several small businesses and practiced my skills before starting my education at Emily Carr University. In my spare time I still love to draw and paint, dance, practice guitar, and consistently lose to my brother at Mariokart.
